Conditional Friendships

I'm contemplating this whole concept today, and i'm not really quite sure why. For many of you eager readers who have never read one of my blogs or know me for the matter, I'm a devout Christian. I have given my life over to Christ and I am loving everything that he is doing in my life. When this happened, I gave up worldly things and chose to walk in obedience.
I have some awesome friends that are extremely supportive in this endeavor and encourage me everyday to do more. I am part of the Youth Ministry at my Church, being a mentor for Highschool girls and small group leader, as well as teaching Kindergartners on Sunday mornings.
So where does this conditional part come into play? Well I have some friends that just don't understand, and I have never asked them to try. I just explain to them that it's a personal choice in my relationship with God to be obedient and to not go out and get drunk every weekend. Why do people get so upset about this? I can go to the bars and drink water, it is possible, and the last time i checked, they did serve it there. So it's kinda funny, because when they need advice about something, they come to me which is good. I share some biblical wisdom with them and talk them through some things. But as soon as it's Thursday, Friday or Saturday, nothing. It's like i'm shunned in the office i work at.
But you know, in all reality i probably shouldn't let it effect me, and it honestly doesnt but it does make for some uncomfortable-ness. But i remember what Matthew 5:11 says "Blessed are you when you are persecuted because of me."
